How to Enable Editing in Microsoft Excel

This will show you how to disable Protected View for your Microsoft Excel documents.

To stop the virus from installing onto your PC, Excel has a setup called Protected View to prevent the user from editing or clicking a harmful button in your workbooks. Some of the excel files you download are set to protected view to preventing you from editing and making harm to your computer.

Additional security and helpful components in Microsoft Office 2016 to assure and help end users from attaching plugins and harmful code that can crash your Excels or put in a virus. These components go far to keep your PC running smoothly. However, there are still alternatives you can change to disable Protected View for your Excel files.

In default the following setting are activated to protected view

1. files originating from internet.
2. files located in potentially unsafe location.
3. from outlook attachment.

To Disable Protected View for you to Edit documents.

1. Open Microsoft Excel
2. Go to File > Options
3. Then click Trust Center
4. Click Trust Center Settings
5. Select the protected view
6. then uncheck box you want to disable protected view.

Presently on the left segment click Protected View and uncheck any records you might want to disable the protected view. And now when you open the files it will permit you for editing the documents.

This procedure also applies to All Microsoft Office 2016 documents ie. ms word, powerpoint.
